STUDIO PRACTICE

How each piece is made

  1. PHASE II
    LISTENING

    Listen

Each piece begins with a verse, a face, or a leaf seen at the right hour. I sketch from memory before any pigment touches the surface — letting the work decide its own first gesture.

    IN HANDMEMORYCHARCOALSILENCEA few quiet hours
  2. PHASE IIII
    LAYERING

    Layer

Acrylic, palette knife, lace impression, gold leaf — laid down in waves, sometimes for weeks, until the surface starts to argue back. The argument is where the work lives.

  3. PHASE IIIIII
    RELEASING

    Release

When the work is finished I sign the back, photograph it in soft daylight, and let it leave. Each piece keeps making sense after I stop touching it.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Asked & answered

On originality, shipping, commissions, and how each piece comes to be.

  • Yes, every painting, ceramic, and sculpture is hand-made by Shirin and exists only once. Each piece is signed, dated, and ships with a Certificate of Authenticity. There are no prints or reproductions in the catalogue.
  • Yes. Works ship from Turkey to anywhere in the world via a tracked number. Standard transit is 5–10 business days, oversized or fragile work that needs a custom crate adds about a week to the lead time. A tracking number is sent the moment the parcel leaves the studio.
  • Yes, commissions are open year-round. Share the size, palette, and motif you have in mind through the contact form and Shirin will respond with a quote, a timeline, and a 50% deposit invoice to begin. The remaining 50% is due before shipping, after you approve photographs of the finished work.
  • Payment is by international bank transfer quoted in USD, EUR, or TRY at your preference.
  • Shirin lives and works in Turkey. Studio visits are by appointment, message through the contact form to arrange one. Selected pieces also appear at curated exhibitions and pop-up shows. Follow the linked social channels for upcoming dates and venues.
  • Keep paintings out of direct sunlight and away from radiators or vents, the gold leaf and pigments are lightfast, but extreme heat or humidity will dull any work over time. Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry brush. Never use water, glass cleaner, or solvents. Ceramics are food-safe but hand-wash only. Each piece ships with a printed care card matched to its medium.
  • Some Paintings ship framed and some unframed. Sometimes collectors prefer to choose a frame that suits the room the work is going into, and sometimes shipping unframed dramatically lowers transit risk. Custom framing is available on request before dispatch (typically a hand-finished wooden float frame in oak, walnut, or matte black) at the cost of materials plus labour.
  • Every piece arrives with a signed Certificate of Authenticity that records the title, year, medium, dimensions. A separate condition report and a printed care card matched to the medium are included.
  • For a piece already listed as Available, expect 1–2 business days for studio packing and 5–10 business days in transit, so most international orders arrive within two weeks. Custom commissions take 4–10 weeks to make depending on size and medium, plus the shipping window above. You will receive a tracking number the moment the parcel leaves the studio.
