Bloom at the Rim

The piece began at the wheel as a small shallow cup, then was coaxed open petal by petal until the clay held the memory of a flower mid-bloom. Turquoise has long carried dual meaning in Persian and Turkish craft traditions: protection and sky, depth and horizon. Here it wraps the finger like a calm breath. The celadon well at the centre recalls the quieter moments inside any bloom, the place where light pools and insects pause. A silver-lustre stamen anchors the gaze before it travels outward along the gold-tipped scallops to the world beyond. To wear this ring is to carry a small garden. It sits flat against the palm of the hand yet rises into its own architecture above the knuckle, equal parts jewellery and sculpture.
