Ember in Still Water

Available$75

A small ceramic brooch, roughly 5 cm across, carries a celadon-blue rim edged in gold luster and a molten interior of coral red and bottle green glaze. The colors pool and fracture the way fire reflects on a still pond at dusk. Each piece is one of a kind, fired to permanent stillness.

ON THIS WORK

The lotus has long floated between two worlds: rooted in mud, open to sky. This brooch holds a similar tension in a palm-sized form. The celadon rim speaks of water and distance, while the coral and green at the center feel closer to the heat of something alive. The gold luster edge is fired last, added when the glaze has already set its story. It catches light differently depending on the angle of the wearer's movement, so the piece is never quite the same brooch twice. To wear it is to carry a small, finished world on your lapel: one where fire and water have already found their truce.
