Crimson Heart

This brooch began as a pinch of raw clay, pressed thin and coaxed into the loose, organic form of a petal ring. The blue glaze was applied in two passes, a pale sky tone first, then a deeper violet pooling toward the center, so the surface reads like still water disturbed by a single drop. At the heart sits a bead of deep red, fired until it blistered into something dense and gemstone-like. Gold luster was painted along the wavy rim and fired a third time, giving the edge a warmth that bronze or silver would not. The result is small enough to hold in a palm, complete enough to carry a world. To wear it is to carry a quiet argument about where ceramic ends and jewelry begins. It belongs to both, fully, without apology.
